Membership

JOIN THE BCCMA

To join our organization, all applicants must complete the membership application/renewal form and pay the required membership dues. Once your application is reviewed by the executive committee, you will be contacted on the status of your application.

Individuals accepted into membership of our association agree and are bound to abide by the ICMA Code of Ethics.

Membership Renewals
Memberships expire on December 31st of each year. Existing members and are required to complete the membership application/renewal form to update your information and submit membership dues. Membership renewals are due on or before December 31st of each year.

Membership Categories
All membership categories (except Honorary) must complete an application. The categories of membership are as follows:


Full Membership (Membership Dues $150 per year)

A person who has served full time in one or a combination of the positions described below or similar for at least two years and is actively employed, in one of the positions described below, by a municipal, or county government:

  • appointed city manager or chief administrative officer
  • deputy or assistant city manager or administrative officer
  • assistant to the city manager or chief administrative officer
  • department director

And shall be either:

  • employed by an organization that has ICMA Local Government Recognition

OR

  • an active ICMA dues paying member.

Associate Membership (Membership Dues $100 per year)

Available to persons that fit into one of the following:

  1. A person who has served in one or a combination of the positions described below for less than two years and is actively employed, in one of the positions described below or a similar position having significant general administrative responsibilities, by a municipal or county government:
    • assistant to the city manager or chief administrative officer
    • department director
  2. A person who is a Member in Transition (MIT) as defined by FCCMA or ICMA
  3. a person who does not meet the criteria for Full Membership and is currently employed in, or retired from, a municipal or county government in an executive level position reporting to the chief administrative officer
  4. The executive director of the Broward League of Cities

Individual Member (Membership Dues $50 per year)

A person employed by not-for-profit agencies, associations, universities, etc., or other not-for-profit miscellaneous agencies affiliated with the profession. This category will include elected or staff level municipal employees who do not qualify for Full or Associate Membership.


Student Member (Membership Dues $10 per year)

Any full-time student in public administration, general business or related curriculum who intends to follow a career in local government.


Honorary Member

Any person who has a minimum of twenty (20) years’ experience in a recognized council-manager local government, a minimum of five (5) years of which is in Florida as a Florida City/County Management Association (FCCMA) member; and having made a significant contribution to the field of public administration. Individuals with distinguished public service careers shall be eligible to become Honorary Members if approved by a majority of the membership at a regularly scheduled meeting.
